- Enter your Queen's NetID@queensu.ca email address. (Note: Do not use your email alias here. It will only work for your NetID@queensu.ca email address)
- Click the Next button
- The Queen's Microsoft login page will open
- Enter your NetID Password
- Click the Sign In button
- The Software tab will open
- Select Office from the left navigation menu
- From here you can install the latest version of Office for Mac
- You can Review the system requirements before you begin the install
- Click the Install button
- Once the download is complete go to the Install Microsoft Office on your Mac section below
Install Office on Your Mac
- The Just a few more steps. screen will open
- This screen shows the steps involved - Download, Install, Sign in to Activate
- The Office software is downloading to your computer.
- Click the Close button
- When the download is complete and you are ready to install Office, from the application Dock select the Installer file
- The Welcome to the Microsoft Office 2016 Mac Installer screen will open
- Click the Continue button
- The Software License Agreement screen will open
- Read and review the license agreement
- Click the Continue button
- An agreement popup will appear
- Click the Agree button
- The Select a Destination screen will open
- You will be asked to select How do you want to install this software?
- Select Install for all users of this computer
- Click the Continue button
- The Standard Install screen will open
- Note: if you want to change where the software will be installed you can do so on this screen.
- Click the Install button
- You may be asked to enter in your computer credentials
- Enter your administrator username and password
- Click Install Software
- When the Installation is complete, The installation was successful screen will open
- Click the Close button
Activate Office on Your Mac
- Before you can use Office you will need to activate it.
- Open the Applicationsfolder (Finder to Applications) or keyboard shortcut (Command+Shift+A) when in Finder
- Locate the Microsoft Outlook app (or any of the other Office apps)
- Open the app
- The Outlook 2016 for Mac screen will open
- Click on Get started
- The Sign in to Activate Office screen will open
- Click Sign in
- The Outlook 2016 for Mac Sign in screen will open
- Enter your Queen's NetID@queensu.ca email address. (Note: Do not use your email alias here. It will only work for your NetID@queensu.ca email address)
- Click the Next button
- The Queen's Microsoft login page will open
- Enter your NetID Password
- Click the Sign In button
- The How would you like Office to look? screen will open
- Select between the Colorful theme and the Classic theme
- Click the Continue button
- The activation will be completed and the You're All Set screen will be displayed
- Click the Start Using Outlook button
- The Outlook screen will re-open
- Office is ready to use.
- Note: Your subscription to Microsoft 365 Apps for enterprise needs to renew or else it will go into low functionality mode. As long as the computer can connect to the Internet at least once every 30 days, Office remains fully functional.
